(One TV):  Afghan President Ashraf Ghani presented outgoing US Ambassador John Bass with the Ghazi Wazir Akbar Mohammad Akbar Khan Medal, Afghanistan’s highest government award, in Kabul Monday. The president commended Bass for his relentless efforts during his diplomatic mission in Afghanistan in order to deepen and expand Afghanistan-US multifaceted and friendly relations, contribute to ensuring peace in Afghanistan and the region, and advance mutual partnership between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the president’s office. “On behalf of the government and people of Afghanistan, I extend gratitude to the United States for its generous assistance and pay tribute to those Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice alongside Afghans,” Ghani said wishing success for Bass in his upcoming missions. For his part, Bass said Afghanistan’s success is, indeed, the US success and underscored the need to step up efforts to realize the desire for a peaceful future in Afghanistan.
