From 24th till 29th March, Mr. Karzai visited Doha to attend the Doha Forum and hold meetings with different actors. Mr. Karzai met with Jasper Wieck, Germany Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Amb Deborah Lyons, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, H.E. Mohammed Bin Messnad, National Security Advisor of Qatar, Amb Ole Andreas Lindman, Norwegian Ambassador

In October, Mr. Karzai had an engaging conversation on the current developments in Afghanistan with UK Chargé d'Affaires Hugo Shorter. Both side agreed that there are NO military solutions in Afghanistan and efforts must be made by all sides to engage in dialogue, which is the only way out of the current situation.

From 16th May till the 20th, Mr. Karzai visited Brussels to meet with senior EU leadership and other stakeholders. During his visit, he held separate meetings with Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director ‘Asia and Pacific Department’ at the External Action Services (EEAS) Tomas Niklasson, Special Envoy of the EU for Afghanistan, Ambassador Andreas Von Brandt

Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai was in Doha for a series of meetings with senior Qatari officials and Afghanistan’s international partners in October. He met with Amb of Japan, and a good friend HE OKADA Takashi to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and the way forward preventing another cycle of bloody violence.

On 18February 2021, Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai hosted HE Ole Andreas Lindeman for a luncheon to discuss the security situation in Afghanistan and development in the Afghan peace process. The two sides discussed the scheduled withdrawal of all US and NATO troops by 1 May 2021 and possible extension of this deadline. Ambassador Lindeman and Mr.

On 9 December 2020, Mr. Karzai met with Mr. Ayub Ansari, member of the intra-Afghan negotiations team, for a thorough discussion on the progress in Doha, agenda-setting between the two sides, and the steps ahead. During the discussion, Mr. Karzai asserted that finding commonalities, at this stage, is crucial as issues become more complicated.

On 8 December 2020, Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Chairman of the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) hosted Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan for a luncheon.
