(BNA): Twenty-six insurgents were killed in the latest fighting in Kandahar. The fighting took place last night in Maiwand, Panjwai and Zheri districts when the Taliban attacked on security forces convoys and checkpoints. Senior Atal Corps official in south of the country told BNA that 26 insurgents had been killed in the fighting. Four Taliban commanders and five Pakistani fighters were among those killed. The security forces says several Taliban weapons fell into the hands of the security troops at the end of the fighting. According to another report, the security troops prevented a series of explosions in Kandahar by detecting and neutralizing 28 mines. No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
