Kabul (BNA) In a meeting with the country’s president at Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) expressed his full support to the peace talks and the presidential election in Afghanistan, a statement from the Presidential Press Office said Sunday. At the meeting, both sides discussed issues on fighting against terrorism and extremism, direct peace talks with the Afghan government, transparent presidential election and creation of the Islamic University in Afghanistan, the statement said. The OIC secretary general also expressed his deep sympathy on the recent deadly incident launched by terrorists at a wedding hall, and asked the Taliban to shun violence and join an intra-Afghan peace dialogue, the statement quoted. The organization chief also said he supported the presidential election expected to be held in the near future and added that the organization’s monitors would be sent to monitor the Afghan presidential election process. The country’s president thanked the OIC’s Secretary General for his support to the peace process and the presidential election and dispatching electoral monitors to Afghanistan and added that peace was the main willing of the Afghan people and the priority of the government of Afghanistan. “In this field the OIC cooperation was very important,” the president continued. Pointing to the role of the religious Ulama in fighting and eliminating terrorism and extremism, the president said: “Our educated religious scholars should jointly work with the Ulama of the Islamic countries for elimination of terrorism threat, mind and extremism context and the coherence of the Islamic schools.” Likewise, at the meeting, the secretary general of the OIC called Afghanistan the key partner of the international community and said the whole world should cooperate with Afghanistan in fighting terrorism and ending war.
