{"id":1135,"date":"2019-03-27T11:33:33","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T11:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.caps.af\/?p=1135"},"modified":"2019-03-27T11:33:33","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T11:33:33","slug":"karzai-hekmatyar-talks-why-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caps.af\/?p=1135","title":{"rendered":"Karzai-Hekmatyar talks: Why now?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jul 06, 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abdulhadi Hairan<\/p>\n<p>On 21st March 2010, the spokesmen for both the Afghan government and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar\u2019s Hizb-e-Islami (HIA) militant group confirmed that a delegation from Hizb had been sent to assume peace talks with President Karzai.\u00a0 The delegation was led by Qutbuddin Hilal, a close aide to Hekmatyar, and included Daud Abidi, Amin Karim, Qarib-ur-Rahman Saeed, and Hekmatyar\u2019s son-in-law Dr. Ghairat Baheer. While in Kabul, the delegation met many Afghan and foreign officials and presented their 15-point peace plan which reportedly included the withdrawal of foreign troops in the following six months, starting from July 2010.
