Police commander among 4 killed in Kandahar blast

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Commander of the Public Order Police Haji Zmarai and three others were killed in a roadside explosion on Saturday evening in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province, an official said.

District Chief Mohammad Sharif told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast on Zmarai’s vehicle happened at around 7:00 pm when was entering to his farm.

Commander Zmarai, his two bodyguards and a tribal elder Shah Wali Khan were killed in the blast, he said.

Governor spokesman Aziz Ahmad confirmed the killing of four people in the incident.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
