Taliban calls off Qatar talks over agenda disagreement

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Taliban have canceled planned peace talks with US government officials in Qatar this week over agenda disagreement, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

“Both sides have agreed to not meet in Qatar,” senior Taliban members based in Afghanistantold Reuters.

Talks had been planned for two days starting Wednesday in Qatar, senior Taliban members earlier said.

The Taliban had rejected requests from regional powers to allow Afghan officials to take part in the discussion.

An Afghan government officials wishing anonymity told Pajhwok Afghan News after the cancelation of talks in Abu Dhabi with Afghan delegation the government had decided to take part in the future negotiation on the bases of a written guarantee.
