Ghani accepts resignation of KabulĂ˘â‚¬â„˘s acting mayor
(Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has approved the resignation of Kabul’s acting mayor Obaidullah Habibzai, an official said on Wednesday.
Habibzai stepped down as mayor on Tuesday, presidential spokesman Haroon Chakhansouri told Pajhwok Afghan News. His successor is yet to be appointed.
Chakhansouri said Habibzai presented his resignation which was accepted by the president. Habibzai also confirmed his resignation on his Facebook page.
He thanked President Ghani for reposing trust in him. He implemented several programmes, with some schemes still underway. When completed, the projects will transform Kabul.
