Taliban blow up Australian-built bridge in Tirinkot

TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Taliban insurgents have blown up a bridge in the capital of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Hokumran Wafadar, spokesman for the fourth brigade of the 205thShaheen Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants destroyed the bridge in Surkham area of Tirinkot.
He said the bridge connecting Charchino and Deh Rawood districts with the provincial capital and Kandahar’s Nesh town. The link facilitated people’s movement.
According to Wafadar, the Taliban blew up the bridge -- 45 metres long and seven metres wide -- on Monday. It was built by Australia at a cost of $550,000.
