Civil society activist gunned down in Nangarhar capital

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a civil activist in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Monday, an official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place this morning in the Kama Adda area of the 1st police district of the city.
He said two motorcyclists opened fire at a shopkeeper named Haroon after a verbal dispute. The assailants managed to flee. A search for the killers has been launched by police.
Shukrullah, an inhabitant of the locality, said Haroon was an active member of the National Unity Society. The deceased, who had no personal enmity, had been part of civic activities.
