PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): One senior police officer was killed and at 10 other were injured in a suicide bombing in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, bordering Afghanistan, on Monday.

District Police Officer (DPO) for Qila Abdullah Sajid Mohmand, who was critically wounded in the blast, succumbed to his injuries later on. Ten other people, including police officials travelling together with the DPO, were injured.

DawnNews reported a motorcycle-borne bomber blew himself up near the police vehicle. The apparent target was the vehicle carrying the police officials. The injured were shifted to a nearby civil hospital.

Balochistan has been plagued for decades by a separatist insurgency and sectarian killings. Taliban and other extremist outfits operate in the province, which also shares a border with Iran.
