Located in Kabul, Afghanistan, CAPS is an independent, research centre that strives to conduct action-oriented research which will influence policy-makers. It works diligently towards building local capacity to produce conflict and threat assessments that will influence the safety and security of the people serving the governments, and international aid organizations.

CAPS Hosts Asia Foundation

On 14 November, 2011, Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) hosted Dr. V. Bruce J. Tolentino, Asian Foundation’s country representative of Afghanistan; Dr. William S. Cole, Senior Director of Program Strategy& Development; Rosita MacDonald, Senior Program Officer, Governance, Law & Civil Society and Roh Afza Ludin, Governance Specialist. Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Director of CAPS, welcomed the delegation to CAPS and appreciated works that Asia Foundation has been doing in Afghanistan and helping Afghan people.
Later on in the meeting, Miss. Mariam Safi, Deputy Director of CAPS, briefed the delegation on CAPS practice areas and projects. Both sides also discussed Traditional Loya Jirga for the U.S-Afghan strategic partnership, reconciliation process and the ongoing transition from NATO to Afghan forces and its impact on Afghanistan’s security. Mr. Hekmat Karzai explained CAPS assessments and highlighted its role regarding the above issues.
